Visual Modifications


Themes

Removed all default themes. Thanks to sic-ever for the mod. Using "FRESH^3 1.4" by IND190. Theme effects used is ExtremeTouch v2 by PedroCst. Theme effects are set to off by default. If you'd like to see the nice Transition and Rotation effects, you'd have to set them on. Go to Settings>Themes>General>Options>Theme effects>On.

Removed Pop-Up Fading Effect

The Pop-Up Fading Effect when opening options has been removed. The Graphics Rendering Engine is not optimized for the effect so it's very slow.

User Interface

Default frame rate increased to 30 frames per second. Removed limitation on cache size when rendering graphics. Graphics rendering can achieve 100% usage from the CPU. Graphics complexity reduced to minimum to increase speed. You won't notice the difference in aesthetics but you will see a great improvement on speed.

Sensor Settings

Display Rotation is on by deafult. Improved Rotation Speed. Tapping Controls now available in sensor settings. You may enable these for Silencing Calls and Alarms; Viewing Messages and controlling the In-Built Music Player.

"Show Open Apps" Removed

Original mod by yener90. Removed the "Show Open Apps" shortcut when in the options of any application.

Performance Modifications

Fixed Message Reader

Original Mod found here. Fixed the Message Reader bug rendering it unable to open.

Increased Heap Size

The default Heap Size has been doubled from the default value. The bigger heap size will slightly increase application execute times.

Reduced Application Close Delay Time

The delay when exiting applications is halved.

Drive Caching Modified

Enabled Asynchronous Reading on Phone Memory. This was off by default. Doubled File Caching size on Memory Card.

Single Vibration When Unlocking

Removed the repeat of the Vibration when unlocking with the slider key. This is the default behavior in the Nokia 5800.

Blank ".uda" File

The ".uda" file has been emptied in order to save space on the Phone Memory.

Disabled Applications Persisting in Background

Based on varfolomey's mod Disabled Messaging, Clock, Calendar, Log and Contacts from not closing when exited. This will increase available RAM on prolonged usage.

Disabled Startup Items

These Applications are unnecesarry when booting and can be started through normal shortcuts. Messaging Contacts Logs

Removed OVI Contacts

Based on coccolino_dbro's mod. OVI Contacts .dll replaced with a placeholder. This results in increased RAM at all times.

In-Built Browser Modifications

Moved the default Browser Cache to the Memory Card for faster read/write times. This will split the load between the Phone Memory, processing the System Files and other file operations and the Memory Card, reading and writing the cache of the browser. In-Built Browser is now capable of resuming downloads upon crashing. User Agent of the browser changed to the one of the Nokia N97. This will make OVI Store and the default browser think you are using an N97. You will be able to download more applications from the OVI Store.

Removed FOTA's Reserved Space

The C6 Firmware for Nokia 5800 cannot be updated through Nokia Software Updater/OVI Suite or FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). The Firmware Over The Air Updating Platform creates a 4.7 MB reserve file on the Phone Memory to be used for updating the firmware. This has been removed.

Removed Messaging Lag

Based on Messaging Lag Solution Without Bugs for 5800 [C6 Firmware].. [rs08] by regiesoriano08. Removed Messaging Lag when scrolling in folder with many messages.

Send Any File Using In-Built File Manager

You may now be able to send ".sis,.sisx, java, etc." files using Nokia's File Manager.

WiFi Scanning Interval Increased

There is a  60000000 microsecond delay between searches that the Integrated Access Point (WiFi Chip) scans for available connections. The delay has been reduced to half, 30000000 microseconds.

Messaging Modifications

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Conversations Based on the extracted version of HyperX. I personally extracted the files from the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Firmware. Visible in menu. Integrated into the Messaging Application. Disabled "New Message" notification. Mod based on varfolomey's Mod. Default Limit in Sent Items is 999

Organized Menu

The Menu is now very organized. This is made to be very intuitive for all users.

Number of Shortcut Bars in Homescreen Increased To 5

Based on Sel's Mod. The default only allowed 2 shortcut bars on the homescreen.

In-Call Settings Modifications

Show Call Duration set to On. Show summary After Call set to On. Default Phone Call Volume has been set to more appropriate levels. In-Ear Speaker Volume set at 80%. Louspeaker Volume set at 50%.

Music Player Widget Mod

Removed OVI Music from Music Menu opened by the Music Player Widget.

Camera Modifications

Removed JPEG Compression for clearer camera snapshots. Camera task ended completely when exited. This will save RAM on prolonged usage.

Video Capture Frame Rate Modification

There is a file in the central repository controlling the minimum, normal and maximum frame rate when capturing videos. The default values have been increased from 5; 10; 15 to 15; 25; 30, respectively.

Music Player Searching Mod

Music Player will now only search sound files from "E:\Music\". Place all music you want to be available to the in-built Music Player in that folder. Otherwise, they won't be available.

Gallery Modifications

Hidden Some Folders from being detected by the Image Gallery. Phone Memory - "Wallpapers", "Music" Memory Card - "Wallpapers", "Music"

In-Built Voice Recorder Modifications

The default format that will be used is ".wav". The default playback volumes when playing back recordings are increased from 4 to 6. The recording time limit has been increased from 1 Hour to 4 Hours, given that there is enough battery and disk space to do this.

Profile Modifications

Ringing Volume of the "General" Profile set to 8. Vibration is set to on in the "Silent" Profile. Vibration is set to on in the "Meeting" Profile.

Nokia N8 Tones

Since I have extracted the Nokia N8's firmware from Navifirm, I've replaced all of the tones to the N8's default ones
You'll find familiar sounds from Nokia. Some are upgraded and some are new.
